7 Australians trying to join Islamic State intercepted at airport
Seven young Australians were stopped by authorities as they tried to leave the country. It is believed they intended to travel to Syria or Iraq to join the Islamic State.
“We have stopped at the airport seven young Australians who were planning to travel to the Middle East, it seems, to join terrorist groups over there,” Australia’s Prime Minister Tony Abbott said at a Thursday press conference.
