A holiday treat: Star Wars reimagined in gingerbread – CNET
Yoda, R2-D2, Darth Vader, Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and even Jabba the Hutt look downright delicious when remade into gingerbread.
As part of Seattle’s 23rd Annual Gingerbread Village, all six Star Wars movies have been transformed into a tasty tribute. Local architects joined forces with Seattle Sheraton Hotel chefs to re-create a memorable scene from each of the six movies using gingerbread and candy.
“Every single thing on them is edible,” architect Alina Pinchuk revealed in a video showcasing each of the gingerbread scenes.
Assembling the giant gingerbread scenes decorated with various kinds of candy including gummy bears wasn’t a quick endeavor, especially since the design was started all the way back in August.
Seattle architect Marc Bailly, who designed a gingerbread scene from “Attack of the Clones,” estimated that his project took “around 1,200 hours.”
Visitors can vote for their favorite scene by dropping off donations at the Sheraton lobby or by texting JDRF5 to 20222 for a $5 donation. Donations will support JDRF, a foundation working to fight type 1 diabetes.
Fans wanting a closer look at the gingerbread creations can see them at the Seattle Sheraton Hotel from November 24 through January 3. The Gingerbread Village is free to the public. Just don’t let Darth Vader catch you eating his Death Star.
