Amazon, News Corp among latest companies to join White House in fighting climate change
Amazon, Verizon and News Corp. are among 73 companies joining a White House climate change initiative on Tuesday, adding to an unprecedented show of support from American businesses for a global agreement. The announcement comes on the second day of the U.N. Climate Summit in Paris, also known as COP21.
The companies are the latest to sign the American Business Act on Climate Pledge, which the White House launched in July, urging international governments to reach a strong climate change agreement at the Climate Summit.
By signing the pledge, these companies — the latest of which also include Airbnb, LinkedIn, Staples, Volvo and JetBlue — are voicing “support for a strong outcome in the Paris climate negotiations” and “demonstrating an ongoing commitment to climate action,” according to the White House. Read more…
