LOS ANGELES — Aretha Franklin has amazing timing.

The Queen of Soul’s last-minute legal action — including a 10-minute courtroom phone conference with Franklin herself, THR reported — stopped the Telluride Film festival from showing Amazing Grace, a full-length documentary feature about her double platinum-selling 1972 performance that was scheduled to world premiere Friday night in the Colorado ski resort town.

A U.S. District Court judge in Colorado granted her injunction Friday — the day of the festival’s kickoff, when Grace was set to screen at 7:30 p.m. Mountain Time. The suit came with a request for a temporary restraining order to stop Telluride from showing the film, directed by Academy Award winner Sydney Pollack (Out of Africa). Read more…
