A conservative minister in Australia backed his stance against marriage equality by highlighting the former relationship of Italian fashion designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana.
Liberal senator Eric Abetz, who is opposed to same-sex marriage, pointed to the fashion icons — and the fact they never married — in an attempt to convince his colleagues that gay men don’t want to get married, according to the Australian Financial Review.
A spokesperson for the senator clarified to Mashable Australia that Abetz actually said “some gay men don’t want to get married,” not “all gay men don’t want to get married,” but would not comment further on the reference to Dolce and Gabbana Read more…
