Aziz Ansari’s upcoming Netflix show may not fill the Parks and Recreation-sized hole in your heart — but if you’re a fan of melancholy, New York City-based comedies designed around a central star’s unique persona, a la Louie or Girls, Master of None might be just the ticket.

The upcoming show stars Aziz as Dev, a 30-something actor struggling to navigate life in New York — being racially profiled at auditions, trying to relate to his immigrant father (played by Ansari’s actual dad, Shoukath), waffling between wanting to settle down and wanting to keep his options open.
