Look, everyone on the WIRED Culture desk is a critic in one form or another. Oftentimes, that means we disagree on things. But this week on the Culture podcast we are in accord about one thing: We really didn’t like Warcraft.

It’s not that everything about Duncan Jones’ adaptation of the classic Blizzard game series was bad, it’s just that there was very little story in it. The VFX were great and there were some fun action sequences, but ultimately, it all felt rote.

But that doesn’t mean there aren’t more fun things for us to talk about on this week’s episode of The Monitor. For example, we’re super pumped on the new season of UnReal, and there still a lot happening on Game of Thrones and Silicon Valley for us to hash out. Join us! We’ve got editors and writers Peter Rubin, Angela Watercutter, and K.M. McFarland in the hot seats and we’re already warmed up.

A few helpful links for things we talk about in the podcast:

-Angela Watercutter’s open letter to Duncan Jones about Warcraft
-Laura Hudson’s Game of Thrones recap
-Kevin McFarland’s piece on Warcraft’s performance in China
-Tegan and Sara’s Pride playlist for Pandora
The New Yorker’s piece on UnReal’s Sarah Gertrude Shapiro
