LOS ANGELES — When the president of ABC said in January he’d be surprised if there was yet another white lead for The Bachelorette, he turned out to be partially right.

Technically. Kinda sorta. It really depends on your definition of what a diversity candidate looks like.

Host Chris Harrison announced during Monday’s The Bachelor finale that the next leading lady will be JoJo (Joelle) Fletcher, the 25-year-old Texas native and runner-up to Bachelor No. 28 Ben Higgins’ heart.

Many were upset to learn that for a 32nd consecutive season of ABC’s matchmaking show, the lead would be white. Read more…
