The 2015 Emmy Awards are upon us, and while television’s biggest night has in several years past been accused of being a Parade of the Usual Suspects, this year is most certainly not without its races to watch

And that’s exactly what The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences hoped to do this year

In February, the TV Academy made significant changes to its rules in hopes that their nominations and winners would start to better reflect the TV landscape.

One of the biggest game changers? The dismantling of so-called Blue Ribbon Panels, which was a small group of (usually older) TV academy members who voted on the winners in major categories.
