These are just a few of the preppy touchstones featured in Everybody Rise, Stephanie Clifford’s trip to Oz-esque debut novel. Instead of landing in a world filled with witches and munchkins, the book’s protagonist, Evelyn, finds herself lost in the world of New England’s upper class.

On its surface, Everybody Rise is the story of a girl on a quest to infiltrate high society so that she can find recruits for an exclusive social network for socialites called “People Like Us.” Think Facebook, but only the uber rich need apply. Read more…
