IDOMENI, Greece — Intense clashes near this border village between Greece and Macedonia continued Thursday as thousands of stranded refugees and migrants blocked the border crossing in protest. Officials have been filtering through the displaced by nationality, upsetting those who will be spending yet another night in limbo

The protesters have been stuck in Greece for two weeks after Macedonian authorities said they would only allow Syrians, Afghans and Iraqis to pass. Since Nov. 18, several Balkan countries have blocked passage to all but those from conflict-ridden countries, who are perceived to have the most viable claims to asylum. Read more…
