Heaving flooding around the French Riviera claims at least 13 lives
Severe flooding around the French Riviera on Saturday and Sunday morning local time has caused at least 13 fatalities.
French President Francois Hollande said in a statement that people were found dead in the towns of Cannes, Biot, Golfe-Juan and Mandelieu-la-Napoule. He said the rains also caused serious damage.
Interior Ministry spokesman Pierre-Henry Brandet said some of the 13 victims had been trapped in a parking lot and some in a retirement home. Detail regarding the causes of death were not yet available. Read more…
