LOS ANGELES, California — It’s a warm Thursday night in Downtown L.A., and a group of food lovers are gathered around the table at Broken Spanish, a new wave Mexican restaurant everyone has been buzzing about. The server makes his rounds, scribbling orders for tamales, hand ground tortillas with lardo and mezcal cocktails.

The waiter stops at Nastassia Johnson, who asks what sweets are on offer that evening, and then proceeds to order every single one of them. She explains to the puzzled faces that “eating dessert first” is her life motto.

And besides, she explains, she needs the last bit of light for her Instagram pics.
