Militants affiliated with the Islamic State released a photo on Wednesday, allegedly showing the beheaded body of a Croatian national who was kidnapped by the group in Egypt.

The photo was released a week after militants demanded the Egyptian government release all female Muslim prisoners in exchange for Croatian Tomislav Salopek

Salopek was was working as a surveyor for the French company CGG in Cairo when he was reported missing on July 22.

According to Croatian officials, Salopek was on his way to work when a group of armed men stopped him, forced him out of his car and drove away with him in an unknown direction. Read more…
