Jake Epping hears these words over and over again throughout the nearly 90-minute premiere episode of the new time-travel thriller 11.22.63 — and after a while, it starts to feel like the statement is meant for more than just the hero at the heart of the show.

On several levels, 11.22.63 feels like an unlikely beast. It’s based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name, adapted by J.J.
