A spate of knife attacks and the military’s ensuing crackdown has left the streets of Jerusalem deserted. Jews as well as Arabs are all on edge.
In the most recent surge of violence, since the Jewish New Year last month, seven Israelis have been killed and dozens more injured. The attackers, often Palestinian residents of the city, were almost always shot dead at the scene. Footage of their bodies helped sparked more angry feelings across Palestine. Attacks took place in Tel Aviv and other parts of the country while demonstrators went to streets in the West Bank and on Gaza’s border with Israel. Read more…
