Well, that was fast. Alphabet — Google’s new parent site — was blocked in China within the day it launched, according to reports.

Chinese visitors to the company’s new site at will be redirected to an error page, just like those for Google’s search engine and its other web properties like YouTube.

A Whois search on the domain shows that is hosted on servers though, so it isn’t entirely clear if China has deliberately blocked the new domain name, or if it’s just subjected to the country’s firewall ban on anything Google. Read more…
