A low-profile mixed doubles tennis match at the Australian Open on Sunday has come under suspicion for possible match fixing.

A major sports gambling website suspended betting on the match 13 hours before Lara Arruabarrena and David Marrero, both of Spain, were set to square off against the Czech Republic’s Andrea Hlavackova and Poland’s Lukasz Kubot in Melbourne, the New York Times reported.

Head of sportsbook at the website Pinnacle Sports, Marco Blume, told the outlet concerns were raised after unusually large amounts of money were bet on Hlavackova and Kubot. The Czech pair went on to win the match 6-0, 6-3. Read more…
