LONDON — The moustachioed month of Movember might be a long way off, but a new campaign is hoping to put another type of facial hair on the agenda

The organisers behind the ‘Sides of March’ campaign — named after the Ides of March, the day on which Julius Caesar is said to have been assassinated — are calling on men to grow out their sideburns to raise awareness for the UK’s biggest killer of men under 45 — suicide.

According to the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) — a male suicide prevention charity — there were 6,109 probable deaths by suicide in the UK in 2014 of which 76%, or 4,623 — an average of 12 per day — were male. Read more…
