Bad news, Katniss fans.

Netflix announced Sunday that it has chosen not to renew a deal with Epix, the cable provider with domestic streaming rights to Hunger Games: Catching Fire. That movie, along with other big names like World War Z and Transformers: Age of Extinction, will disappear from Netflix at the end of September.

The streaming service has long hinted that its arrangement to steam Epix movies, originally a deal exclusive to Netflix, might not be permanent

Netflix CEO Reed Hastings told investors in mid-2012 that Epix content did not account for a “particularly large” amount of its overall viewing. Since then, Netflix competitors like Amazon and Sling have inked deals with Epix as well. Read more…
