Porsche Rennsport Is Like Comic-Con for Auto Buffs
Since its foundation in the aftermath of World War II, Porsche has built a heritage around racing and sports cars that’s hard to match. And that heritage comes with some crazy-rabid amazing fans who like nothing better than to get together with other Porschephiles and ogle each others’ machines.
So every few years since 2001, Porsche helps facilitate, with a tremendous party to pay tribute to its own past and present. It’s called the Rennsport Reunion. (The word rennsport is German for racing—and, you know, so is Porsche.) Last month, the fifth edition of the Rennsport Reunion took over the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca racetrack in Monterey, California.
50,000 fans of the brand turned out to walk among more than 300 historic race cars on display, meet racing legends, and watch three days of nothing but Porsches barreling around one of the country’s toughest circuits.
It’ll be a few years before Rennsport Reunion VI, so we’ve put together photos of the best moments and sights to see to tide you over.
