Never under estimate a Star Wars fan with money to burn.

Princess Leia’s iconic gold “slave” costume, worn by actress Carrie Fisher in Return of the Jedi, fetched an astounding $96,000 at auction on Oct. 1. The name of the lucky winning bidder was not released.

Bidding began at $80,000 for the online auction, which was run by Profiles in History. Along with the costume itself, the lot included a certificate of authenticity signed by Industrial Light and Magic designer Richard Miller.

Fisher wore the risqué costume in the scene in which she is held captive by Jabba the Hut on Tatooine. The outfit had made many appearances in pop culture such as Friends, Family Guy and Chuck. Read more…
