Ronald McDonald may be one of the world’s most recognizable mascots — but he’s not always the most loved

The smiling, red-haired clown was vandalized for the third time this month in Burlington, Vermont, local news station WPTZ reports. Kristine Bickford, executive director of the Ronald McDonald House where the statue resided on a bench, said that Ronald’s head had been burned before being removed from the body. The statue’s feet had also been sawed off; the charred remains of his face were found near the city’s waterfront.

“The kids were traumatized,” Bickford told WPTZ news.
