LONDON — A double-decker bus crashed into a railway bridge in Rochdale, near Manchester, on Wednesday afternoon leaving a number of people injured, one seriously

The entire roof section of the bus was ripped off, lying behind it on the ground, surrounded by broken glass

Police said 17 people were injured in the incident. There were 25 passengers on the bus when the crash happened

In a statement, the company that was operating the bus said the incident happened at around 12:30 p.m. BST

“At this time our primary focus is to assist customers and staff involved. Staff from First in Manchester are providing support to the emergency services at the scene. We will provide whatever additional resources we can,” Teresa Broxton, managing director of First Manchester, said in the statement. Read more…
