Why didn’t this happen sooner?

Fundamentally, Pokémon are born and bred to fight. Their very existence is predicated on the concept of beating up others of their kind, then evolving into more advanced versions of themselves to take on better, faster, stronger Pokémon.

Pokken Tournament strips that idea down to a 3D fighting game reminiscent of Soulcalibur. It should be awesome.
