Taxi industry’s Twitter campaign backfires after riders share horror stories

An Australian taxi lobby has been lashed on social media following the launch of a new campaign to combat perceptions of the industry. Taxis have been on the back foot Down Under since the arrival of ride-share service Uber, which is exceedingly popular despite its uncertain legal status in most Australian states.
CEO of the Victorian Taxi Association, David Samuel, told the Guardian Monday his association would stop going after Uber in favour of working on offering a superior service. “In 2015, if we’re not providing a service people want to use, then the amount of competition will see our industry decline,” he said.
