It’s not like esports haven’t been on TV before — but a major cable network just committed to televised gaming in a big way.

Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. and WME | IMG have partnered to create a new esports league, televised coverage of which will run on TBS. Kicking off in early 2016 with Counter-Strike: Global Offensive as the featured game, the cable network will host two 10-week seasons, with each broadcast window covering regular season play, playoffs and a championship.

The weekly competitions — which will feature teams facing off in Counter-Strike matches — slot into TBS’s Friday night block of programming. They’ll be complemented by daily esports content on TBS running from Tuesday through Friday.
