LONDON — The UK has the best end-of-life care in the world, according to a new report from the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU). The country topped a list of 80 countries thanks to the integration of palliative care into the NHS and a strong hospice movement, among other factors.

Australia and New Zealand took the second and third spots, with the U.S. at ninth position after Ireland, Belgium, Taiwan, Germany and the Netherlands.

Iraq, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Nigeria and Myanmar are at the bottom of the table.
