At least 10 people have been killed in the Philippines over the weekend by the torrential rain brought by Typhoon Goni, authorities said.

Initially, farmers welcomed the rain, but as the downpour continued, thousands had to be evacuated to higher ground as landslides and floods buried houses and closed roads in northern Philippines.

Goni unleashed nine floods, eight landslides and two tornadoes when it hit the Philippines, CNN reported.
