Lifetime’s UnREAL, a show about the behind the scenes drama on a reality dating show set, was praised in Season 1 for bringing down the curtain on the world of The Bachelor and the like. In Season 2 they’re doing so in an even bigger way by tackling the lack of racial diversity in casting

Well, it’s more like they’re fighting back against it with the season centering on women vying for a black suitor

“In an era when ‘driving while black’ is dangerous, there’s sort of few things more pressing than this conversation and I think we don’t want to fall asleep at the wheel,” executive producer Sarah Gertrude Shapiro told reporters Tuesday at a panel for the show during the Television Critics Association press tour. “We want to continue talking about things we are incredibly passionate about and think are important.” Read more…
