What travelers should know before visiting Japan
Next February I will be traveling with my husband to Japan, and I’ll be honest — I’m a little nervous. I’ve read many different etiquette suggestions to put in practice when traveling to the country, and the last thing I would want to do is offend someone.
So I figured a crash course was in order.
“We think nothing of flying around the globe to visit countries where the people and culture are foreign to us,” said Lisa Grotts, a certified etiquette expert and author of “A Traveler’s Passport to Etiquette”.
“When abroad, diplomacy isn’t just for diplomats,” she said. “Every courtesy should be afforded the people who live wherever we travel, and we should, at the very least, be respectful of our global differences.” Read more…
