More than 18,000 people have signed the petition to boycott an upcoming movie I have not seen. That film is Stonewall, a fictionalized account of the queer social justice uprising against police harassment at a New York bar in 1969

I started the petition because, when I finished watching the film’s new trailer, I felt something familiar as a non-binary transgender woman of color: the feeling of being erased. The clip does include transwomen and people of color, who are central to Stonewall history. Yet, they seem secondary to the white, cisgender gay man named Danny who appears to be the film’s hero.
