Marvel just dropped another trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, and one shot is doing all the damage.
It’s quick. Just a few seconds. But it’s enough.
The scene shows a wrecked, ash-gray New York City. Central Park sits dead center, unrecognizable. Buildings around it are torn apart, and there’s no sign anyone’s still standing.
Reed Richards, played by Pedro Pascal, is heard asking Victor Von Doom if he’s responsible for it all.
Doom doesn’t exactly deny it.
That’s basically all we get. No wide reveal. No clean explanation. Just rubble, and a question hanging in the air.
Naturally, the internet did what the internet does.
So Whose New York Is This?
Fans immediately split into camps.
Some think it’s just the main MCU timeline, post-battle. Others aren’t so sure — a few even floated Wakanda instead of New York, since the trailer doesn’t give a clean location marker.
But the theory picking up the most steam involves a very specific Peter Parker.
Enter Tobey Maguire
For months now, leaks have pointed to one thing: Tobey Maguire is coming back as Spider-Man, and this time it’s not just a No Way Home cameo.
Insiders have claimed Maguire’s Peter Parker- the Sam Raimi version, CGI-de-aged or not- could open the entire movie. Some reports even suggest the film starts on his Earth, not Tom Holland’s.
The alleged plot: Deadpool and Wolverine get pulled into Maguire’s universe first. Not as friends. As part of a mission tied to the Incursion fallout from Deadpool & Wolverine.
From there, things escalate fast. Some leaks describe an all-out brawl between Maguire’s Spider-Man, his rogues’ gallery, and a wave of X-Men. Other versions of the leak go darker still, hinting Peter doesn’t make it out of the opening sequence at all.
Nothing here is confirmed. Marvel hasn’t said a word about it officially.
Why The Central Park Shot Fits
If the Raimiverse really does kick off the movie, a shattered Central Park makes a grim kind of sense.
It would explain why the destruction looks so specific, so personal, and not just like generic post-battle damage.
It also lines up with the “opens in a New York that isn’t the one you expect” detail that’s been floating around in plot leaks for weeks.
Is it definitely Maguire’s world? No.
Is it a strong guess? Fans certainly think so.
